Hello, and thanks for clicking to find out more about me! This is always the most intimidating page. Below are a few factoids about me that will hopefully provide some context as to who I am and what I’m all about. Feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions!
How I got into photography:
It started with shooting cars. Yes, cars.
A majority of my friends in high school were into modifying and showing cars. I loved shooting them and the challenges of getting the perfect light, the perfect angle and avoiding reflections and glares in the paint. This was also how I picked up the fundamentals of photography. At the time, I also worked as a graphic designer after school at a local design boutique. When the owner found out I was interested in photography, he introduced me to a friend of his who owned a wedding photography studio in Houston. I started as an unpaid third shooter on the weekends, moved my way up to second, and soon started shooting on my own.
What I learned from shooting weddings was 1) how to tell stories, and 2) that I loved shooting people. This strengthened my abilities in the other areas that I now focus on: editorial and lifestyle photography.
What you’ll get:
I love telling stories. The goal at every shoot is to capture something that lingers longer than a memory and is just as fond. My goal is to also give you something that doesn’t expire. Don’t expect too many trendy filters from me, I am all about creating timeless, classic and provocative stories in the form of photographs.
Stuff you probably don’t need to know:
Liang fact #1: I am that person who lugs in a giant camera to a restaurant and photographs my $5 meal by the window.
Liang fact #2: I can listen to the same song on repeat for days if I’m digging it. And then once it has run its course, I’ll probably cringe any time I hear it for the next three years.
Liang fact #3: I enjoy playing Magic: The Gathering and would really like to play more of it.
Liang fact #4: I make a pretty badass miso glazed cod fish.
